If you have any security tips for boat and trailer- please reply. I alway at least drape the cover over the boat if I am leaving my boat for a few hours. I also am a big fan of coupler and trailer locks when I am on vacation and leave my boat at loney boat ramps. I just bought a Loc R bar for my compartments. I am glad I have the Bar but this might be a little overkill. It is a super heavy bar that goes across my front compartments. I use it when my boat is stored by my house or when I am leaving the boat for a day or two. I have a ton of good rods(mostly bass) in my compartment and a bunch of equipment in the others. It only takes a big screwdriver to pop a lid. Who uses motion detectors (baby ?) in their boat ? How much and what brand ? Do you set them at 5 feet ? Do they work under a boat cover or when cover is picked up ? I am not a security nut,I just have noticed I leave my boat parked on a sidestreet for several hours or the back of a bar restaurant for a couple hours and I have about $4000 in the boat. What does it take to press a button on a pop can(motion detector) so no one is looking in your boat. if you read this, How about a reply ? ? You really have to be careful when going to a Bar on a friday night when you go up somewhere for a weekend. I fished a Lake by the Frontier club(adult) North Twin and they had alot of thiefs. As soon as you came into the bar, somone would go out to your boat and another guy would watch you with his cell phone on to warn the thief. Just be careful, throw a sweatshirt over your good reels when you leave the boat. Have a GREAT 2009. Roy

I have a Frabill Arctic Siren set up for my lockers that hold anything of worth. When that thing goes off it'll make the thief wish the door hadn't been opened.

That's a brilliant and a low cost solution to a serious problem.

Last year, we had a theft problem in our area. I borrowed a couple of those trail cams that when tripped, send the photo directly to your email address. Even if they steal the camera you have the images online. I didn't get hit, but I thought it was a good idea.

I just know you are going to love me for this. You lock the ball to the hitch with a pin lock, then you lock the trailer onto the hitch with another...but all the thief needs is a crescent wrench to take the nut off under the ball and simply get a friend to quickly lift the ball right from the hitch to an empty hole on his hitch in about a minute flat. The simple way to mess him up? Just place a goodly bead of weld on the bottom from the nut to the bolt and then all is secure. That is, unless you are dealing with a serious bad guy. In that case, make sure you have the right boat policy. Marty Forman

Taurus has a new .410 revolver out. They call it the Judge! Smooth bore 4 inch barrel, so you can shoot 00 buckshot out of it, or a rifled slug even! If you're in a liberal state, be sure you drag them into your house after you shoot them though!

A set of locking lug nuts for the trailer tires and spare. Cabela's has a wheel lock bar that you can attach to the trailer while parked at the launch site. I got one for mine but it didn't fit. That would stop them from moving the trailer if they removed the coupler nut as Junkman describes.

This gave me an idea for my own use. I have a swing away tounge. I should just pull the pin from it when I leave the trailer. Kind of hard to pull a trailer when the tounge swings back and forth. Doubt that many thieves carry a pin with them.

As for protecting boat contents, I can't help.

I know you are joking, but this is HORRIBLE advice. Moving a body after it has been shot is tampering with evidence which is a felony (in all states). You will be busted for dragging it only a few feet.

Beats the hell out of being charged with murder doesn't it?

If you rightfully defend yourself then a murder charge shouldn't be an issue. Attempting to make it look like you were justified in defending yourself by dragging a corpse somewhere will have any attorney or prosecutor licking his lips.

Try these, window/door alarms you can place inside each of your storage areas.

Anyone have any experience with these?
