Location: 412 | Hey guys,
sad news... was fishing a shallow, murky, timber hidden lake.. and.. and.. and... LOST MY DCG! After this terribly depressing moment, I knew I must have something to get it out if it happened again.
I was wondering if you guys have used lure retrievers... did you buy one or make one.. seen a couple different styles of them. It wouldn't be too hard to make one, can someone maybe post a pic of their own if they made one? |

Location: So. Illinois | I have the Frabill 15" Telescoping Lure Retriever and love it. I have not had a single bait that I could not bet unsnagged / back....

Ditto. It's paid for itself a couple of times over.
But on a side note, if you have to use it as a push-pole at a shallow landing, avoid using the spring end on the lake bottom...seems like it makes SO much sense now.
Also avoid stepping on that bump board shortly thereafter...

One week on Cave Run and it paid for itself... Well worth it, and a "Must Have" in any boat.

Location: Minn. | I bought a Cabela's 19 Ft. Telescoping Lure Retriever. On one occasion last year, snagged a lure in 35 Ft. of water. The lure was only running 15 Ft. . After pulling on the bait for 5 minutes, I was finally able to get some movement on the snag, and was able to pull up and grab the Depthraider which was attached to a 1/2" nylon rope. Pulling up the rope I collected two 10" Believers and 3 Cementblocks attached to the rope. So it definately paid for itself on that trip. It works good for grabbing the dock also on those windy days. |

Location: Hopefully on the water | I got one that is kind of had to explain but it basically clips onto the line and slides down the line and knocks the lure free from the snag. Having a straight vertical position on the lure helps. We have a line tied onto the lure retreiver for the hard snags to be able to drop it on the lure repeatedly if needed. I could have filled another box of baits for replacement if this was not in the boat. In 3 boat between our fishing group tere is one in each of them, Actuallly we used it Friday night 2 time on DBL cowgirls. It cost us somewhere around $10-$15 for it and paid for many lures. The last one we got was from Bass pro shop. It looks like a perch. Definately a must have in the boat (somesort of lure retreiver). |

| i have the frabil one and its awesome. since i fish shallow rivers and reservoirs that are full of timber it makes the frabil ideal to retrieve them. |

Location: Indiana | I lost my DCG on some timber last week as well. I was casting into the wind and got a backlash AND a tangle...couldn't reel in or let line out...and my DCG was in the middle of a huge clump of standing timber in 20 FOW. Needless to say, it was lost even WITH a gull darn lure retreiver. That said, the Frabil works wonders and has saved me more money than not. Just try not to get a backlash in timber with the lure that's caught a fish and moved a ton of others....it makes the rest of the day kinda suck. |

| I have a telescoping one and it works awesome for shallower water but when your snagged deep you need something like the one above. |
