| I have a couple Reef Hawgs, but I hardly give them any water time. What kind of action are they supposed to have? How do you work them? Flouro leader, 7-strand or solid wire? Split ring? Do you turn the eye screw?
They sometimes glide, sometimes don't do much of anything, and other times are very erratic (up, down, all around).
HOW SHOULD THEY WORK? Wish there was a demo video. |

| I use all my jerk baits on a solid wire leader.
It spose too glide side to side but it goes up and down alot also. It is like half Suick, half Hellhound.
Just give it the same retreive you would for any glide bait. Jerk, pause, Jerk, pause, Jerk, pause, Jerk, pause, Jerk, pause. Perfect cadence.

Location: Milwaukee, WI | A good-running Reef Hawg should dart/glide from side to side. Like a Jackpot, but below the surface. There is a rhythm to the rod snaps needed to make the lure dart around like that.
It is easier to get the 6-inch Reef Hawg darting correctly versus the bigger ones. |

Location: SE Wisconsin | While I tend to mainstay with flouro leaders, one point I think is important to stress coincides with Snaggletooth's rhythmatic rod snap approach. As is true with any glider, it's important to load up your rod by keeping up with the slack after the snap. While it may not be true with solid leaders, flouro leaders tend to recoil and if you don't have the right cadence or rhythm, too much slack in your line (the recoil) will give little to no action on the following snap. |

| First off Reef hawgs catch more than just muskies, they also catch big walleys. I use them on a floro leader with a quick 1 2 3 jerk action... I usually catch muskies in open water with Reef Hawgs.. However, the soft plastic version seems to draw fish whenever esocks are in the mood for luers like a bulldawg.. |

| Sounds like you have a good one. Imagine the way a dying/struggling baitfish will move in the water. It definitely won't be in a smooth, rhythmic way. It's gonna dart all over, stop swimming, and generally move very erratically...especially when being pursued by a giant predator. I'd start throwing it, they are great baits. |

Reef Hawgs - How to Use 'Em?
