Once you get a glide bait to the boat how do you finish? Should I figure 8 or just work the bait in place for awhile, or speed it up once I see the fish behind the lure. Any tips would be great. I moved 6 fish yesterday on a phantom softail, one fish on 3 cast in a row and after about 9 hours of fishing I got one fish to eat and I never saw that one until it hit about 5 feet from the boat.

Just a normal figure 8. Especially with that tail on the phantom softail.

when the bait is about 2 feet away from the boat start your figure 8 and then reel up to few inches from your leader in the middle of the 8. Do nice big and slow figure 8s and let the tail do all the work! Good luck!

With a jerkbait I like to let it rise about 5ft from the boat and sit there for 10-15 seconds, then I jerk it one more time and go into a wide slow figure 8.

well always speed the bait up when you have a follow and do a figure 8 when its next to the boat.
