Eric Hataaja does... He caught a 54" out of Okauchee two years ago with that method, only on a bluegill.

I don't, too time constraining.

If I am not mistaken it is legal to do as long as the bait fish was caught from that lake and 2 the bait fish becomes part of your bag limit for panfish.

I myself have not taken the time to do it.

check the state rules and regs. Go to the source, it's not worth the risk.

IN WI, you are allowed to do this provided that the fish is of legal size, in season, caught by legal means, and counted towards your daily bag limit. I've done it a few times, but for me it's worth waiting until fall to fish with live bait. Gives you a reason to actually look forward to those days when it's 37 and raining...

Well I was the one that caught that fish on a crappie and the crappie was caught out of lake Wingra that day, it is also legal to use gamefish as bait as long as it is of legal size, caught on same body of water it is used and considered part of your daily limit. I fish from shore and don't move around alot so I always have 2 livebait poles out, normally they have bluegills on them but if I can catch a perch or crappie then those get put on. I have caught and my friends have caught lots of fish in the last couple years using bluegills, and they are a heck of a lot cheaper then suckers.

We run Bluegills on quick strike rigs off of tip ups all winter. Catch a ton of northern, some monster bass and had some good muskie action. Just make sure you are in compliance with the states rules and regs.
