| I have an older St. Croix Legend LM66MH that is an awesome rod. I want to get a Legend(pre-Avid) or Avid in the 6'9" jerkbait model but I noticed that when they discontinued the this model of Legend and went to the Avid series that they changed the rod blank. My Legend has an SCIV blank and the Avids have an SCIII blank. I thought the SCIV blanks were better, but St. Croix may have done something different with the SCIII blank to make it better. I was looking for input on the better blank. I want to get another rod but I am looking as to whether I should look for the Legend(Pre-Avid model) or Avid. They are both great rods but I was just looking for more information and peoples preferences.

Location: Oswego, IL | They stopped making the Avid when the new Premiers came out. Accoring to a lady on the phone with Croix she told me they stopped making the Avid because the new Premier was a better rod?????? In what way, I didnt get into specifics. I found that wierd because the Avid was much more $$ and to me seemed way lighter. I have no clue whats what with the Avid and Premiers. All I know, I will only buy the Legend Tournys here on out, which I already have. | |
