Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Here is a picture I managed to snap of my fishing partner Saturday morning. This will be 'Ranger's second year in the boat and at 16 months, he has settled down to where he is no longer chewing on everything in the boat. He enjoys riding up front once we get on plane. He never complains when the fish aren't active, never asks why we are fishing a certain spot, never asks how much longer I plan on fishing, and rarely has a backlash.

Location: Minnesota | Very Nice!! As an avid duck hunter as well as esox angler, my dog always thinks she should be retrieving everything thing that hits the water. It makes it tough to take her out with me. |

Location: New Albany, Ind. | hey guys, my dog bubby red merle aussie just loves to go with me, the ranger very rarely leaves the house without him. he gets very excited way before im ready to go. he loves to lay in the dip net so lots of the time i dip it in the water to get it wet for him. he can be layed under the dash sleeping in shade and when you get a hit he is right at your feet. lots of the time its just me and him ready to go anytime i am. ron

What kind of dog is that Cowboy?
Looks more like a Cheaspeke but could be a lab though. Nice looking dog there! |

| I am likely to have my 9 year old Golden with me in the boat more than any other partner. At nine, he knows all the routines and is quite a comfort to have around. The only caution I would share with you guys is that when the dog is in the boat, I have only one rod and one bait out at a time. When I look at the first post here, my first thought is that one of those baits surrounding the butt seat pole will (sooner or later) find its way into the dog. As a guy who is ashamed to admit that I have already had a hook in my dog--please be careful!! Marty Forman |

Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Ranger is a Silver Lab. Technically I do not believe that breed is recognized yet by the AKC. His papers say chocolate. That silver color was breeded out of choco-labs and now there are breeders that specialize in labs of that color.
Like I said he's finally settling down---he was a NAUGHTY pup but 16 weeks of obedience classes now have his owners properly trained. He now does just great in the boat. |

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Sam, my dog Sandy has seen more time in a boat than most muskie fishermen. I take her everytime I can. Clients are now asking me to bring her. Dogs can be very good in a boat. She knows the rules very well. She was with me and my partner during the WMT. She loves muskies. Has to get a lick or too on them. Pike she will lick sometimes. Bass and walleyes she pays no attention to anymore. Something about ski's.
I will see if I can find a few shots quick. My website is loaded with them.

It makes it tough to take her out with me. Same here! Although my current dog is older (almost 8) he still doesn't fully understand fishing. Since I hunt out of my boat (jon with blind) quite a bit he associates boat rides with duck hunting. He is better, but still occasionally wants to retrieve a bait.

| My dog Mooch loves to go fishing. He always sits up by the trolling motor and watches me fish. He knows all the rules and has never been a problem in the boat. For some reason he is scared of the net, lol.

| I went out with my 3-4 yo beagle tonight. He loves going out, but we have only done it 3 times so far. Does real well. I got a deep-v with-out decks, so i bring a collapsible nylon crate he'll go in and lay down when he gets boared. There was a racoon, and beaver were we fished tonight. That got him fired up. I havent cought one yet with him in the boat, looking forward to that. That will get him figureing the deal out a little more. |

Location: Duluth, MN | Here's our partner Allie. 7 months old. Been on the boat 3 times. Yesterday was her first real fishing trip. She doesn't like going over 30...bothers her ears. And she has a hard time relaxing, switching between my son and I while casting...she hasn't jumped in after a lure though. But she saw something in the water and dove in after it. Drug her butt back over the transom. I see her only going out for a couple hours at a time till she calms down in general...but she's doing great.

Location: London, England | My two out for the ride before the season starts. The young one's first time in the boat. He only fell out twice before he "realised" the rules of the boat! The old boy looks like he's about had enough of the other one's puppyish ways!

| No, it certainly doesn't, and I haven't lived there for about a year. Where it does look like is middle Tennessee. Much prettier and the fishing is a heck of a lot better too. The only bad thing is I'm 20+ hours from LOTW now.

| The background looked a little too hilly for Nebraska. Tennesee has some good fishing from what I hear. Good luck this season. Are you planning on LOTW? When? |
