I have been fishing muskies in northern wisconsin since i have been old enough to hold the pole and now its time to chase the big boys/girls in the bay. My brother and i have completely revamped my grandfather's 1750 alumacraft trophy. Our intentions are to keep it in the fox valley to use as a trolling a boat so we don't have to pull the crestliner 350 miles every time we head up and back for a weekend. Anyways... I am going to be rigging the boat as my brother did most of the repair work on the boat. I am looking for input on what equipment i should be considering or purchasing. Its an older boat, 1987 with a matching 70 horse johnson, and i have been looking for kicker's and electronics specifically. (So if anybody is looking to unload any equipment pass along a message.) My father and I used to troll a ton when i was younger and we kept all of his old penn rods and reels so i am considering giving them a try and purchasing seperate line counters. But as far as equipment; what kind of boards, line, rod holders, etc, should i be looking for? I like to do things right the first time so i don't have to redo them down the road. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah... i almost forgot... Trolling motors. I have been using a Minn Kota MAXX cable drive for about four years now and love it but one of my friends recommended an auto pilot so you can use it from the back of the boat to assist with boat control if needed. (Again, if anybody is looking to get rid of trolling motor, 24v minimum)

I can help you with the rod holders. Down east are bullet proof and well worth the money for trolling musky. I use 209LC penns and for $60 they are nice reels. I just have $25 cabelas 8ft heavy whuppin sticks and so far have been indestructible after my relentless abuse of snagging and bashing around the boat.
