He just lives in Utah!! I met Louie on Pineview Reservoir this afternoon and did he have some fishing tales for me! Last year he caught a 79 and a half inch tiger musky, forget world record that's a galaxy record. Then after catching that one he caught a 69 and a half incher a few weeks later. THEN he witnessed a woman wading in the water get attacked by a giant tiger and she passed out from the loss of blood. Louie has experienced more than most of us only wish we could.

Sober as can be, this was an actual account I had while interviewing an angler today.

I spoke to a guy once that caught a 73 incher...he told me that the DNR told him it was 3 inches shy of the state record.

Funny thing...a buddy of mine and I spoke to someone recently that said his brother was part of the DNR in Kentucky and that they netted an 80"er out of Cave Run this past spring and said it would have been a world record...hmmm...where do guys come up with this stuff...

I took my 15yr old cousin on a weekend trip last summer to fish some Wv rivers. We were taking a break and enjoying some KFC and the guy next to us commented on how he likes my boat. He then goes on to tell us that he doesn't swim in the river anymore because his buddy said there are 6 ft steelhead in there that'll take your legs off! Yes 6 ft steelhead!

Live in WVA all my life and there is NO 6' steelheads in W.Va. . Seen a few that were 5' but I don't believe 6" at all

I'm guessing the guy's name is not Louie Spray...it's jack daniels...

Kinda reminds me of the old 3M production with Jerry chiapetta on muskies where he interviews a guy about muskies on Lake St. Clair...

Too funny!!

I was talking to a guy who told me his buddy caught a muskie 6 in. longer than a railroad tie! I think the railroad ties around here are like 6 ft. long! So, I guess the muskie was about 6'6"! That must have been a nice one!

I heard the same story from a guy when I was manning a show booth for our club. Except they electro shocked it out of a res. in Pa. I just smile, and say " I sure would like to see a fish like that one" . The stories people tell you are really wild. We've put the best ones we heard in our newsletter in the past. This sport isn't short on colorful characters and story tellers. That's for sure!!

It always seems that if someone catches one of these monsters they land them on a crappie rod with 4lb test. Then they actually show you picture some times and that 57 incher sure looks like a 48 incher on a good day.

I know a guy that has lost 3 state records in the past year. A Muskie that was at least 60" on a shad rap and 8lb line. Got to the boat and it took off and spooled him. 2 weeks later he a state record smallmouth that to me looked around 17 or 18 inches, and a largemouth. He showed me a pic of a 13lb bass in bassmaster and said he was at least 2 lbs bigger.

I talked to a guy that has a "secret spot" on MN's metro lakes. He said 80lbers are common. Muskies? Darn right!!! Don't tell anyone. If anyone knew the record hounds would be out there, good thing they don't know how to catch em like I can, though!

This thread is AAWWSSOOMMEE!!! Lol! I love it! I remember A guy who claimed his buddy caught a 60"er out of Brushy Creek Lake, IA (only 4 years after it was impounded). "I was like sweet that must of been a state record?", he's like, "no it wasn't even close... it was thin for it's length". He said they had it mounted and he'd bring me a picture... never seen that dude again, my guess is he went home and measured it and realized it was only 36"es or something lol. I see my own dad do it with bluegills and bass and stuff, he swears every 4 lb bass he loses it a 10 pounder. Some guys just either love to tell fish stories or I think even convince themselves of it somehow... when I was little I used to want to believe big foot and the lockness monster were real so maybe it's something like that.

They aren't real?

I've got sooooo many of these stories it almost isn't funny anymore. Notice I said almost. I've been told that there are 70 inch carp swimming around Pineview and they are seen on a regular basis. I also spoke with a gentlemen who was complaining about the crappie fishing a bit. He claimed he used to catch crappies left and right and none of them were under 18 inches. Apparently he was setting records every time he reeled in a crappie.

One of these days I hope to land a 70 inch carp.

Met a guy today that says he has never fished for muskies but has at least 3 up to the boat everytime out bass fishing. His biggest he has landed is 58" and has had fish over 60" up to the boat. He just bought a musky rod this year and is going to try to actually land one of them over 60". This is all on a 2000 acre central mn lake.
