| What hook sizes would be recommended to carry at all times with you? I've seen some pics on here where some guys have 12 different sizes, and the box was packed full. I cannot afford $300 worth of hooks on hand. |

| Great question, I've wondered the same thing. I need to pick up hooks - I would think 3-4 different sizes of trebles, couple single hook for spinnerbaits, and couple sizes of split rings. Also, interested in make/model hook are most versitile. Thanks! |

Location: Land of the Musky | For big lures I take 3/0 (round bend), 5/0, and 7/0. For split rings I find #5 and #7 rings will work for 99% of your needs. I like the Bucher/Worth tempered stainless steel super strong rings and Mustad brand hooks. |

Location: Sw Pennsylvania | 1/0, 3/0 and 5/0 are what i carry. Hooks i use are generally about $10 per 25 so for $30 to $40 you can be set and ready to go for a season or more very easily. |

| I carry 2/0 and 3/0 for most twitch and crank baits. 4/0 and 5/0 for gliders, jerks and rubber. All Eagleclaw Lazersharp. My gider hooks are 704's and 774's, because I know that heavier hooks like 4X's will cause a good glider to sink faster than lighter hooks. I've gotten away from round bends to keep the tips farther from the lure body, and have found unhooking fish easier with longer shanked hooks. Of course, I "T" all of my hooks, even some tail hooks on top waters, and I'm even using double hooks on some lures that I use around weeds taking a tip from Lokes. I'm always hopeful that I will use all of the replacement hooks that I take along on a trip. |
