im getting a new muskie rod, and i was wondering what lenght and weight i should get. I will be using it for casting. Since im only 5 feet tall i was thinking of getting a 7 1/2 foot heavy weight. What are your opinions?

Do you know what lures you want to use? Are you new to the sport? How much are you looking to spend?

i already have chose what rod i gonna get a shimano compre. Im gonna be throwing double cowgirls, creepers, bulldawgs, topraiders, shallow and deep invaders, big bucktails and some other cranks. Not many jerkbaits, because i already have a jerkbait rod. What im thinking of getting is the shimano compre 7'6 heavy power.

Your height really doesn't matter when it comes to rod length - It has more to do with the handle length - I have a buddy a hair taller than you and he is now using 8'6" rods because of their advantages. Casting, eighting, everything is better with a longer rod. Standard handles should work fine for you. Check out the St. Croix Legend tournaments with the Split-Grip handle they are the best stock rod on the market!

The heavy compre will do what you want (yes, I've used one), and I agree w/ Jerry, you should have no problem handling the 8 footer.
