By outfit I'll assume you mean rod/reel, not attire ;).

I've caught quite a few muskies from shore, with my best being a 45". What you'll basically want is a good all-purpose type rod since dragging around multiple rods is a pain. If I was going to shore fish today I think I would use my 8-6 Steel 25 or 8-0 Heavy Diamondback.

I guess that's what he means..? I use a 7 foot St Croix with a Shimano side stab open face for small lures - cb's, jigs, and smaller #5 bt's. For bigger lures and bait fish I use a Abu rigged to a 6'9 St Croix, I can go up to 6 ounces with this pole.
All braided, steel leader, deep coho net and good footing for my figure 8's. I have caught 3 muskys in my life, all 3 came from shore fishing....

i shore fish when im at school w no boat. i use a 7 foot gander rod and abu 5500 c3. I use shorter rods when shore fishing because some spots are very hard to cast from, lots of trees and bushes around, and a longer rod will catch up in them. never caught a musky from shore yet.

I fish from shore and I have 4 rods atm and waiting on another. I have a 8'6" XH Tica/ Abu Morrum 4500C, 8'0" H Pete Mania/ Revo Toro 60, 6'10" St Croix Premier/ Abu SSC3, and 6'9" Gander Mt Guide Series/ Shimano Cardiff 400A. I take all my lures with me because I am normally out for 12+ hours and I don't really move around all that much. I have 6 from shore so far this season already.

i only bring about 6 muskie lures that can fit im a clear plano then a bunch of bigger bass stuff and keep it in my backpack. along with boltcutters, pliers, and a knife for release tools. dont worry i only use the knife to cut the line.
