OK, first the basic crap. I was lucky enough to walk into a small shop and find a couple of small end cap baskets that were full of 4" Grandmas. I had never seen 4" Grandmas before, so I picked up one or two Under the 4"ers were 3"ers. Those were firsts for me too, so I picked up a few of those. I think the 4" models would be good early season muskie lures, and good lures for my daughter to use when she uses in-shore spinning equipment, so I changed the weak hooks and the soft black splitrings. The 3" will be great for trolling for walleyes or casting for smallies and largemouths when they are finicky.
Neither model came with a front splitring, so I tried some that I never tried before but had been wanting to. I bought some of the oval splitrings marketed under Rick Clunns name at BPS, but I'm sure that they are offered in bigger sizes and heavier guage wire. I think that the oval idea is a good one, but I wonder how many of you have tried them already and what your opinion is, and where you can get them in muskie size.
Thanks,
Beav

I have used them a bit on Sebile' lures - I have yet to see them in muskie size in person - But you can probably find them at Capt. Harry's tackle supply or another fine Saltwater tackle retailer!

Ah yes, saltwater components are sometimes a treasure chest.
I'll look for some there.
Thanks

I also love the saltwater stuff. I make my leaders out of ''Offshore Angler'' components.
Really strong!

Capt Harry's and Fineskind Tackle are great saltwater catalogs.
