| This model doesn't have large enough gunwales wich is where I see most people mounting to. Where do you guys with these boats mount you rod holders?
I cast 99.5% of the time so I'd like them kinda out of my way while casting.
Does someone make like a 4-6 rod setup that fits in a seat post hole?? Then I wouldn't have to actually mount to anything.
Thanks
Jason

Location: Bemidji | I used to own a Navigator. I put Ranger-style Rails on the gunwales of the boat. I bought them from Cabelas. This year I purhcased actual Ranger rails from Ranger cheaper than I purchased the knock offs for. I would call Ranger and tell them that you want their rails. I am not sure how long they are.... maybe 60-70 inches. After I mounted the rails I put on the Down East rail mount rod holders. This is the way to go.
The clamp on Down Easters will not fit.
I can e-mail you pics of my old boat with the rails on if you would like. |

| That would be great, please send me pics Kevin.
I would have thought the gunwales were too narrow?
Do they just screw in, or bolt on somehow?
Thanks
Jason

Location: The Yahara Chain | Jason, I have a 175 Navigator cs. I run Down East rod holders. I have Ranger Rails on the driver side which I mount the S-14's on. I use the clamp on version on the passenger side. It works just fine. You have to flip the clamps so they can secure on the passenger side.
I used 1" self tapping screws to mount the rails.
I started trolling a little it in '07, got a 44.5 on Wingra doing it and actually put some solid numbers in the boat in '08. There are times in Madison when casting is sort of a waste of time. I've learned to like trolling a little bit, especially when the clicker goes off.

| Scotty's also makes a clamp on model that I use. Use them mostly for live bait but have trolled with them also. I think they have a 2" max opening.

| WOW!!! Hi fellas Im new the the site this is my first post! I have a 08 navigator also and have been trying to find rod holders that I dont have to permanently screw on. The only thing I could find was the down-east rod holder, S-10 style I assume they will work from the sounds of you guys. Are they nice rod holders? any problems with them. I found the best price through Rollie and Helens. |

My boat is an '04. If they haven't changed the design you will have to put a rail on the driver side (I have a single console version). No way that the S-10's will clamp on that side. I like using the S-10 on the other side though. It gives me great flexibility when deploying my sucker fleet in the fall.
Welcome to the site. |

| Why do the clamp-ons fit on the passenger and not the driver? I have a tiller so it makes no difference to me. Still curious though?
Counsole get in the way?
Have you givin the clamp ons a good beating Troy?
Anyone use these on the Fox/GB? |

There is a 'lip' on the passenger side to attach them to. On my driver's side there is no such 'lip'. A rail is my only option on the driver's side.
The clamp ons will work just fine. They are very secure. |

| Alright, thanks.
If you have a rail and clamp-ons on your boat, I may have to just track you down on the lake and take a look before I fully decide.
Thanks for all the responses!!
And thanks for the pics Kevin.

Location: Madison, WI | I also just bought a 09 Navigator 175CS and had the ranger rails mounted. I had flush mount Scotty's on the old boat but figured the clamps on would be the way to go. Thanks for the replys, might need to see some pics too.
Sounds like there are alot of 175CS's rolling around the Madison chain. |
