What is the advantage with the v2 over the edge? There both 70lb and 24v why spend the extra money? Thanks, Brandon

They are two completely different motors. The Edge is a cable drive motor. You push down on the toe or heel of the foot pedal, which turns the motor. These are great for quick direction changes and are really good for hovering in one spot. The downside to these is that you need to keep your foot on the pedal most of the time or else the head will turn and point a different direction.

The Powerdrive V2 is a motor driven unit. A motor electronically turns the direction the head points, and it stays where it was last put until you step on the pedal and turn it again.

Both are good, but different. It's up to you to decide which one suits your needs the best.

Welll... I think the V2 has a maximizer feature which gives you a longer battery life and the Edge probably doesn't. They deploy a little differently. The Edge should have a pull rope to deploy/stow and the V2 is a little more manual in operation.

I would go to the Minn Kota website and do a little research on them. There should be information on both motors there...
