Location: Northern Wisconsin | hi,
looking at renting one of the 14 ft row boats from smokeys, are these okay to stand up in and cast from??? |

Location: SE Wisconsin | Sure they are. There little 14' V-hauls, maybe 4' wide with a flat bottom. No problems there, so get yourself on the water. |

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | I hope you're in good shape, that's one hell of a row to the east end from Smokey's. You're better off rowing over to Taylor's Bay or fishing around the island and rock bar out in front of Smokey's landing.
Marty Foreman and I rowed our keesters off in last year's Smokey's Monkey Island tourny. My back still hates me. |

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | There is great fishing by both Smokeys rite now. The muskie shop is a better bet because you can just row to the end of the pier and drift. Multiple rock bars in that bay. Some good hidden ones to the west, a small one straight out from that launch and a huge one North east of the launch.
Row up wind and just drift. that whole bay is over 4 hundred yards long and about one hundred yards wide. It will take you lots of drifts to cover that amount of area. I would bet you could even get a tow back up wind from another muskie fishermen. |

Location: SE Wisconsin | Geez, you're too funny. Of course that would help. Dude, if you can get on the water, the only movement you should worry about is floating. Otherwise, start gameplanning on how to get a fish in the boat. Really, like Mike said, the fish are scattered across the entire lake. You'll find them in the weirdest places sometimes, so your odds are really as good at 49 degrees N/88 degrees E (made up coordinance BTW) as anywhere. I wish I had room more often on my boat, I'd squeeze you in, but often I'm rocking two others at a time. |

Location: Northern Wisconsin | ok thanks, i'm taking my gf up to pewaukee for some musky fishing for a few days in june but my dad wont let me take our boat. so my options are to rent one w/o motor for 15 or w/ motor for 50. i dont have enough money so im gonna have to go with out the motor lol. all im concerned about is getting her to catch one or see some action because she gets so excited catching small bass and bluegils i cant imagine how exciting a musky would be. and she can cast a bait caster quite well, had her practice in my yard lol. |

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Steve, when its about your time to come to Pewaukee e-mail me and I will make sure you get a marked map of the hot spots that are very close to Smokeys.
Yes, a trolling motor and a good battery will make it well worth the effort. Weather will dictate how well that is going to work for you. The wind is your enemy if your without a motor. By June the fish will be mostly out of that bay but very close still. The hottest spots will be just North of the Bay.
I will be glad to hook you up with info. But don't e-mail me too early. Wait till the week before so I can get you the latest and greatest spots and patterns.
Fishing from a rental will not be that bad. Get that trolling motor and your set. Pray for a light south wind. A strong North wind would hurt.
