| Hello all, looking to invest in a nice pair of sunglasses, something less than 200 dollars. I fish Lake of the Woods mostly with usually about a two feet visibility. What is everyones favorites and in what tints? |

| Go with the Costa Del Mars, there Poly lenses are under 200, I would go with the amber lense. |

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | This is like the tenth sunglass post - A lot of tire kickers and penny savers - If you are really looking to "invest" in a pair and not just "get" a pair of glasses there is on brand and one brand only! Costa Del Mar!
Oakley, Native, Smith, Spy, Ray Ban = Trendy, crap, mediocre polarization. Only 2-2.5 levels of 6 UV rays filtered
Ocean waves, Maui Jim, Kaenon = good polarization, okay construction. 3 Levels of UV filtered
Costa Del Mar 400 lenses = Great construction good polarization. 3 Levels of UV filtered
Costa Del MAr 580 Lenses = Great construction, unparalleled polarization. 5 levels of UV filtered
THe 580 lenses are king - What I use at LOTW and many other waters is usually Copper glass lenses - Unless sun is really penetrating, then I switch to a pair with Black or Grey glass lenses. At low light, the copper is obviously a better choice, and actually the 400 Sunrise glass lenses are awesome during that period as well.
If I were you I would get the a pair of glass copper 580's and a pair of glass Sunrise 400's if none of your buddies walk off with them, you will probably never need another pair of sunglasses |

| I'm a Costa fan as well.
If you sink $200 in a pair of quality glasses, you will take care of them, and they will last a very long time. |

Location: Yahara River Chain | Since everyone face is different there is no "best". A good pair of glasses will fit nicely against the face with very little light coming in around the frames. You just have to try them on to see what fits best for you. Also some styles may look better to you than to another. |

I don't know much about all the different lenses but I have owned two pairs of Kaenon's and my brother has a pair. I have their construction to be almost tank like in their full frame wrap around styles. I have two pairs that are going on two years old and I don't think I have ever even tightened a frame screw. I am bad about puttting them in their case so they ride around on my truck seat, inside s shoe ( poor man's case when you have to travel), etc.. and show no scrtahces...... |

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | The Kaenon's I have, I got in Islamorada in '02. They were a brand new company and I was curious to see what they were all about. I did like them - I even got another pair a couple years ago because I thought the frames were cool. They are pretty sturdy - But the lenses were the main issue... Compared to my 10 year old Costa's they didn't compare. And those Costa's had the 400 lenses. I could see so much more clearly with the moderate lens than I could the Kaenons.
IMO the "BEST" choices are
1. Costa Del mar
2. Maui Jim
3. Ocean Waves
These glasses were originally designed for fisherman by fisherman - Thus they are the "BEST" for fisherman. They weren't made for little rubber people that like to look cool as they ski down a slope. They were made to see fish!
Maui jim has a bunch of frames, Ocean waves have a few different models as well. Where as Costa has literally hundreds of frames with a ton of lens variations. Little head, fat head, big shnoz, lumpy cranium, Costa has a pair that will work!

| i have a pair of action optics with prescription lenses made by a guy here in missouri that are great. The glasses are at least 6 years old. They're showing wear now, so I might have to retire them. Unfortunately the style is no longer made, or else I'd be getting another pair. |

| In my opinion Maui Jims are the best sunglasses made when it comes to overall comfort and performance. Awesome warranty from what I understand, too. I'm going on my 3rd season with a pair of Maui titaniums and they are so comfortable I forget they're on. |
