Evinrude recommends the use of a fuel additive (2+4) that they conveniently sell. From what I can tell Sta-Bil appears to perform the same function at a much more economical price. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two? If I can truely save some money without jepaordizing my engine, why wouldnt I?

STABILL BREAKS DOWN AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS WHILE 2+4 LASTS ABOUT 6 MONTHS. MUCH BETTER PRODUCT.

the 2+4 also will have additives to keep injectors, etc. clean from gum and will also reduce the amount of carbon build-up as well. The 2+4 will be more like "Sea Foam". Sea Foam will do the same thing...if that is cheaper, I'd go that way....and the nice thing about Sea foam, is it will also double as a storage additive...

With stabil, all you are getting is a storage additive... If your boat will be sitting for long periods of time, you can use Stabil since that is what it is designed to do, so it will not break down in the two weeks as stated previously...it is designed to keep the fuel in usable condition by maintaining octane and keeping the fuel "dry" so to speak...
