Noticed that Google Earth updated the Northern WI images recently to photo quality.  Lucky for me, they updated the bondary area waters in MI at the same time.  The current images in my area are a few years old (2005), but it is still kind of cool to see a sattelite photo of your favorite lake instead of the low resolution images that were available previously.

If you upgrade your Google Earth to the latest version, there is a feature that allows you to access older photo files.  Some of them are in B&W but still interesting to see changes in shoreline development and fluctuations in resovoir levels, etc.  You can even track the various locations of the 40 acre bog on the Chip Flowage if you are so inclined.

Yeah, GIS is some pretty sweet stuff...I'm starting an on-line grad certificate in it through Penn State this summer.

Is the view on the Chippewa Flowage the same you see on Google Maps?

Google maps is the same as google earth current view. Can't access the history views from Google maps though.
