Since it is a cable drive trolling motor the only adjustment that I know of is with your foot. It may take some getting used to, but the only way that trolling motor is going to move (unless you take your foot off the pedal) is when you move it. After time you'll get the feel of exactly how fast or slow to move the pedal, and eventually you will be able to simply feel where the boat is going.
good luck

I believe there is a set screw type of adjustment that sets the friction.

On the front of the pedal there is a tension screw to adjust how freely the pedal moves. Tighten it up and it will make a big difference.

Yep set screw will tighten it up, keep a screwdriver handy as you'll need to adjust it on a regular basis. I wish ours would die so we can replace it with a Terrova.

thanks for the info guys, i think there were a lot of dead batteries yesterday here in indiana,
do you guys use a butt seat to lean against for support to run these? the sit down seat is just too low to run it right, at least for me..karol
man what a wind, the neighbor's hen laid the same egg 3 times

Yes a butt seat helps a ton, also try and make sure what direction your turned before hitting the power.
