The first 2009 outing in the never ending esox season of the Big PA. At Lake X, Southwestern PA. Passed up the Allegheny River in favor of Lake X.
Steady to pelting rain to start the day.
Number of muskies boated: 0.
Number of muskie strikes: 0.
Number of game fish seen: 0.
Number of minnows seen at launch: 4.
Interesting sight: Rare weasel seen loping along shoreline above fast drop off.
Flying friends seen: Three osprey checking out Lake X as potential home. Probably to be ruled out. One small bluejay (favored bird).
Lost Mepps Giant Killer to submerged wood. Thought there might be a muskie hanging out near downed tree.
All in all a great day. And an inauspicious start to 2009 season.

If you start out fishing a lake X how do you expect the fish to know where to be?
