Location: Delavan, WI | Hi I wonder if anybody has experienced this issue- I have a 99 Mercury 175 hp EFI
and when I have the motor in gear and goiing 4-5mph if I hit the throttle and go it clunks really bad it almost sounds as if its jumping out of gear but the boat still feels ike its moving - problem just started today and Im worried since I have 2 tournaments Im fishing in the next 2 weekends - any info is highly appreciated BTW I am an auto mechanic so Im pretty sure I can handle the repair on my own I just need to know if anybody has already went thru this and save me the hassle of taking stuff apart for no reason Thanks in advance Martin. |

| could be a dirty fuel injector or fouled spark plug. buy some fuel injector cleaner and change plugs. |

Location: Delavan, WI | Perhaps I didn't explain it properly- the motor itself is running fine I think the isue might have something to do with the part that engages the shifter in the lower unit it almost sounds like you hit a rock upon take off and if you slowly accelerate it a little throttle at at time it doesnt do it- only if you hit the throttle hard its like a big clunk or a bang not a little one. almost as if the motor is loose on the transom or something- but upon inspection - I found nothing obvious loose |
