Location: Kaukauna, Wisconsin | For the guys that use double 10's, what tail material do you find to work best? I am looking at purchasing a couple and I really like the silicone skirts that Llungen uses, but I know the DCG with the flashabou has done a great job catching fish. Thanks guys!! |

Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | It sounds like you already have confidence in the silcone, so that's what I'd go with. They both catch a ton of fish. But throwing a new bait that you have confidence in is a huge thing. I like flashabou and silicone about an equal amount. Marabou is good too, but I don't find myself throwing it much.

Location: Kronenwetter, WI | THe only silicone baits I have thrown 'spun' instead of 'puffed'. I therefore only throw hair, boo, and flash. Used to throw lots of boo as it was easy to tie, but also stayed wet way too long so I now am down to hair and flash. Not sure it makes a big diff what material..."It's the mirrors...I mean blades". |

Location: MN | Little tip on the silicone skirts if they start to spin instead of "swirl". Bend the tip of the wire just below the eye at about a 45 degree angle. This makes the skirt really puff out and swirl. Matt Snyder from Llungen showed us. |

| I've got several of each type that I've used over the last few seasons.
There are advantages to each:
Silicone: Doesn't knot up, stick together, or fall apart. Easy to replace when a fish wrecks it.
Marabou: Puffs up nicely, adds a lifelike element to the action of the lure
Thin flashabou: puffs up and swirls nicely
Thick flashabou: Durable, maintenance free. And sparkly!
And there are disadvantages to each:
Silicone: Doesn't have the action or profile of other materials
Marabou: Not as durable, stays wet forever
Thin flashabou: Knots itself around hooks, other lures, etc. And doesn't come apart!
Thick flashabou: Less profile and action
They all catch fish, so it really comes down to personal preference. I prefer to buy lures from someone I know, and I like to be able to pick my hair/blade combinations. Much more fun having them built exactly how I want them... |

| Someone mentioned that the silicone/DC 10's spin but I find that the flashabou baits spin the most.... The DC 10's and Marabou, at least for me, spin the least. I found that bending the shaft slightly at a 60 degree angle or so where you attach it helps keep it from spinning as much... |
