| The insert in my rod tip on my St. Croix Triumph popped out a couple of days ago. I've got the insert and don't believe it's cracked. Is there a good method for re-inserting the insert? I can replace the tip, but would prefer not to-I want to use the rod this weekend. Thanks. |

Location: Eagan, MN | If it popped out it should pop back in too. Try a little 2 part epoxy and you should be good to go. |

Location: Hayward, WI | Tip tops are pretty easy to replace. I had a bad top on a St. Croix Ice rod and I emailed them about it. They sent me a new tip top and a little packet of the glue they use free of charge. The glue is cool stuff. It's crystalized stuff. Pack the tip top full (or partly full, slip it over the rod, heat a little with a lighter to melt the crystals, and that's it. You just heat up the tip-top a little to take it off too. You could also use ferrule glue, or the hot sticks they make for putting in arrow inserts would probably work too.
If you can find a tip big enough to fit over the end of the rod locally, you should be able to put a new top on in 5 minutes.
