Right up to ice-up. My favorite cold water topwater is the Weagle.

I like WTd in cold as well. It is a slower presention. Fish are real slow moving when the water is that cold, an easier target I guess you could say.

Yes, I actually have had good luck post spawn. I find the hawg wobbler to be a great spring topwater.

colder water temps I have had the best luck with hawg wobbler style baits, creepers and WTD type baits moved slower with pauses...under 50 degrees I'd agree w/ Justin there are usually baits that are better options but ya never know what they want til you throw it...

Another vote for WTD's; Weagles specifically. When we couldn't get anything going on the breaks with rubber, we slipped shallow and I got 2 one trip and 1 on another in November. I've also had success on Jackpots early in the season; haven't been able to throw the Weagle for early-season fish yet; but I think it will do great.

We've had excellent action with them for post spawn fish. Weagles in particular get bit a bunch by post spawn fish (or any time for that matter). The size doesn't matter either as we have gotten them on 10"ers early on as well.

muskie24/7, did you see the Next Bite tv show with Lee Tauchen. They were fishing post spawn and he was catching em on his Fish Stick all day!! That "walk the dog" bait he makes.

that was welllll after the spawn fyi. that was late May last year. wouldn't exactly call the timing of that filming post spawn imo.

I would, especially last year with that late spring, moving everything back a week or two.

I'll have to agree with topwater......That show was a WAY after the spawn.

Definetly way after the spawn I saw the show and even though it was a cold winter it was after the spawn by awhile

It's not a go to bait pre spawn for the most part, but if there is a warming trend in the weather, I wouldn't hesitate to throw them at all. I've gotten a couple of fish in March and early April on weagles, and raised some others, and those fish were pre spawn, but it's not as consistent as post spawn.
