I have a few of these and never get them in the water enough, but does anyone else have confidence in these baits?I did manage my largest Bass with the 8"model of 7 1/2lbs and had a lower 40 follow the bait. These things look so real in the water, maybe the fish see them as second nature....

We trolled them on the bay of Green Bay. In the fall of 2007 (all fall) our group had great success on them with 7 fish over 50" on them. I have also caught fish casting them in Northern Wisconsin. Great Baits in my opinion.

My buddy couldn't keep a cormorant off his on Oconomowoc Lake. Luckly it didn't get hooks, but did follow us when we moved. Freaking bird!

I've had good success with the 8"er...imo it has better action than the 10".
Though I do know some guys who throw the 10"er at night and do well...it is one bait I know I need keep in the water more often...fish love em...biggest on them so far is a 47", but did have some 50's sniffin em in MN ...

I just picked up an 8" and was wondering the same thing about the success on this lure. Perfect size for opener or I guess anytime there's a need to down size. I watched a youtube video of the 6" version and it has great action so I hope the 8" is similar. This is going to be the first thing I snap opening day and give it a whirl.

Keep the experiences & insight coming!

HA! Swimmin' Joes... What a piece of junk! They don't work at all, and 50+" muskies DO NOT like them. Why anyone would waste their money on that lure is way beyond me!

And if you believe all of the above, I've got some real estate in Florida I'd like to talk to you about...

Seriously though--every fish above 50" in my boat that fall was on an MJ, except for one little 48-49" *dink* (about 35 pounds) that I caught by one barbless hook, after she missed the lure as I was retrieving it after the board popped off. By the way, the fish was foul-hooked in the shoulder and mad as hell. She went under the boat twice and around the trolling motor, but we finally got her into the net...and then the hook fell out!

One thing I would recommend is to make the hooks barbless. Those big fish just cream that lure, and we almost lost the 54" because of it. Luckily the water was cold and we kept putting her back in the water to breath every minute or so. After about 15 minutes and with some help from the Keye's Outdoors boys, we were able to release her. She did throw water in my face as she took off, so I am hopeful that she made it--but after that, every lure in the boat is barbless.

If you can pick up a few SJs, I highly advise it--but don't work them fast, as they'll blow out on you. They are deadly at the right speed, and I even have some underwater footage of one from a video-trolling rig that shows how well they work.
