Location: Stones throw away...finally!! | Ever since I bought my boat, I have noticed that when turning, the wheel turns effortlessly to the left, but is much harder to turn to the right. This is the case whether I am sitting still in neutral or running at speed. I have seastar hydraulic steering...has anyone else ever had this problem, or have any ideas how to remedy. I have checked the little fill cap on the steering column, and it looks fine. Wondering if there is anything on the cylinder by the motor that can be checked.

| sounds like you need to bleed the air out of the right side of the hydraulic steering port back by the motor. |

Location: Stones throw away...finally!! | Thanks guest. I will check that out. One question though...according to the Seastar manual I downloaded off the internet, it says to fully turn to the left, and then while holding the rod, turn the wheel to the right until a steady stream of oil comes out of the bleeder valve. My question is do I have to disconnect the rods from the motor in order to do this? |
