Hi,

I'm going to be installing a 520C and 27C on my boat soon and am wondering if it is possible to share GPS data and waypoints using only the ethernet cable? If not, does anyone have an idea where I can find a cheat sheat on what parts I'll need to network these units to share a GPS puck and waypoints? I went up to Gander a couple days ago and just confused myself and the fishing department guy (who was pretty worthless...).

Also, the boat that I'm putting these on already has a thru hull transducer for an older Lowrance flasher installed. I'm thinking it's a safe bet that would be a good spot to mount a new transducer? Or in a similar spot close to it?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

No...the ethernet cable will now work for sharing the gps antenna. The ethenet cable is only used to share sonar info between the units..you have to set up a lowrance network using the terminators and and T-connectors.

Heres a sample network..

Lei-extras carries everything you need. All you need to know what color network cables your units are compatible for (red or blue)

Depending on if youre using the red or blue cables the n2k-exp-kit part# 124-55 should be suffient for what you want to do. Its really simple to do...you just have to make sure that each end of your network is capped off with a terminator...
Also, the NMEA 2000 network only needs to be powered by one of the units not both.

Here's the link on setting up a network off of Lowrance's website..
