The boys and I are taking off momentarily for our first muskie trip of '09. Ice came off a couple days ago amidst a rainy and windy week. The sun came out today and we're gonna give it a shot. If nothing else, the cooler's full and the pocket video games have new batteries...

Well, true to form as far first trip fish go...none. On the bright side, every piece of electronic/mechanical equipment worked fine (well, except for the reel Baldy sent me, but that was easily fixed ). I also successfully avoided getting 'pierced' by any of the lures Nik and Dane were throwing. Sometimes I think my boat's too small, but then again, with those two flinging lures, the Nimitz may be too small...

Water temps were only about 43F; when it's that cold, my expectations for fish activity are pretty low. But the day was nice and we had fun. And tonight, Nik decided to wear his MuskieFIRST shirt...since he's figured he's pretty much a pro by now.

I also took my first trip of the year Saturday with my little boy(he will be 31 next month). Great day to be on the water; sunny and temps. in the mid sixties, and the walleyes on the Wi. River were hungry. Great way to start the season! Can't wait for the real season to open next month.
