| What repair center do you guys recommend for Shimano? I live in MN, and the closest repair center I found was in Missouri. I have a Curado 300 dsv that is under warranty, but I read that you still have to send $25 in for repair? Wouldn't it be free if it is under warranty? The reel is still in working order, but the gears are just a little rough. Would like someone that knows what their doing take a look at it before the season starts. I know I could contact Shimano and ask them these same questions, but I want to get some feedback from the customer side of things as well. thanks
I know Thorne Bros. is having a seminar this weekend on shimano reel maintenance, but unfortunately I will not be able to make it.

Location: Marshfield, WI | I took mine to The Sportsman's Repair Shop out of Mosinee, WI. I think they said for a clean is was $20. I took it there a month ago and they said it would take 6 weeks. Hope it is done soon. Their number is 715-693-6634

Location: Chicago | Call Shimano service first (California), I was in the same boat with a curado as well, it was covered under warranty and all I payed was shipping there. They cleaned & lubed the reel made the repair and put some updated stuff in to boot not to mention I got it back after only about a week. |

| I repair my own. Shimano CA will get parts to you in less than a week and often do not charge. Repairs generally take less time than packing it up and going to the post office. |

Location: Twin Cities | I sent two curado's and a calcutta 400 to that shop in Missouri over the winter. They repaired the curado's under warranty by a verbal confirmation of the purchase date and upgraded some of the components in them both at the same time. The 400 needed several pieces and with upgrading the clutch components, my total for all of it with return shipping was $29. I'd recommend them, great communication and so far the reels are back to like-new condition. Fished a couple days last week, flawless. |
