The pete maina reels work fine, and cheep. Has a 5.2 gear ratio, can pull them real easy.

My little Abu 6500 from Cabelas bargain cave does just fine.

most reels will actually do ok but if you like to burn them you will need a little more reel.. and remembering to aim the rod directly at the bait helps out a ton less pull on you and rod and having a completly filled reel with line helps also.. and having a powerhandle make it the shiznit....bill

Ya, archernut makes a good point. My Abu 6500 is NOT my TE400 w/power handle. But for 80% of what I do with DC bucktails it works fine. I should also mention I can't fish to save my life

PS-My Abu 6500 has a power handle on it and this may help a little.

do you guys think that a low profile reel like a citca, would stand up to the beating, or would I have to upgrade to a revo, or a whinch or something?

For a hundy you might be able to find an older Calcutta CT (prior to the B series). It has a lower gear ratio that will make the job easier.

Okuma Induron IDX 400a. You can get one on Ebay for around a hundred bucks, then get a free power handle from Mark Rogers at Okuma. Mine works great.
