I've had a lot of pike on buzz baits, no muskies though.

My uncle caught fish of 35", 38.5" and 47" all in one morning on a Buchertail buzzbait last summer. That 35" is the smallest fish he's ever caught on it, and he's been throwing it for years. I've had nice muskies swirl and miss my buzzbaits while bass fishing also. They'll work, it's just timing and location.

Yes, especialy on Wingra, but not exclusively.

I'd get the white Boogerman.......Loud, annoying, but gets fish to eat.
The Buchers ones are alright, but I wouldnt buy another blue fox one.

Buzz baits can be killer, but I haven't seen one with a hook worth a #*^@. I customize all mine.

I run Violent Strike magnums. 8/0 stainless main hook and a 7/0 stainless stinger, and I don't lose many muskies. One of my favorite slop presentations, and my top producing reed presentation.

Ditto in the reeds,
I gave up on several styles, and make my own now.
The double-hook Lindys got a lot of attention, but inevitably I wound up with one hook in the fish and one in the reeds.
I make my own now and I put the blade further forward to clear the way through the reeds. I also make sure to tune them so the blade hits the brass bells that I put over the threads. They are louder than any pacemaker or any other lure designed to knock. I'll have to see if I took any pictures.
They are tied on a 3/4 oz coil with a 7/0 Siwash hook shrink wrapped over the eye and up the shaft.
They aren't just for reeds.

This is just the first prototype. After this one I took the wire and bent it to go forward of the tie-eye and then back parallel to the shaft. What that accomplished was giving me a "Z" shaped wire that leads through the reeds better. One big hook is enough for me. The fish seem to have no problem getting the business end in their mouths. I'll get some pics of the Z-shaped shafts. Perhaps Buzz-Z-Baits?

In the bullrushes and in heavy slop where I cant really get another bait into. I use the slopmasters from bucher tackle, they seem to hold up pretty nicely.

Jack Shriver's Hi-Jack has been the only buzz bait I've caught a fish on (in the 8 to boot!). Looong arm kept it nice and weedless. Good bait, wish it didn't break!

Jack's Hi-Jacker is the only one I have had some action on, but they are so heavy, you really have to retrieve them fast.

I noticed that at first, too. However, all you need to do is engage just before the bait hits the water, keep your tip nice and high, and presto! Just gotta experiment with how to get them to run well.

Jay, the Shrivers is great and also check out the Buzz Dog by Ruff Tackle. We had a lot of action on them on Holcombe Flowge. They are a great shallow water bait on lakes where loud topwaters don't get a lot of play. Also, they are a great early season topwater.
