Do any of you know if an Abu power handle will fit a Shimano Cardiff, or will I have to get a power handle directly from Shimano?

Thanks,

No an Abu will not fit, you need one from Shimano.

Does the Cardiff use a different sized shaft then other Shimanos? I thought the Abu handle fit pretty much all of the standard sized reels from different makers, and is a whole heck of a lot cheaper to boot.

Abu or Shimano will not fit Okuma either, never tried any yet on a Luna. Shaft sizes are all different from brand to brand.

The power handle that is designed for the Calcutta B will work fine on a Cardiff. The handle for the TE series is consideralby thicker and although you may get it on the shaft you will only get the nut to tighten down a few threads worth.

I have the calcutta power handle on one of my cardiffs. It fits nicely, just be sure to not strip the threads on the shaft cause there is not many threads that hold it on. Snug them down tightly. Also, if its a left handed reel it has left handed threads on the drive shaft. My buddy found this out the hard way.....also they are in the $30 range no matter who you get them from.

Allegheny (Go Steelers!) said it right. I got mine direct from Shimano for right around $30. Love it over the Power handles on my Abu's. The Shimano handle it like much bigger (like a frickin' doorknob). I've had lots of hand problems over the years and this handle has made life much easier.

Thanks for all the input guys. Thought maybe I could save a few bucks, and get one of the Abu's for $15. Guess not.
