| Saw a cool Thorne (?) rod with an extendable handle at the MN show last week. Any comments on that setup. Good bad ugly nice? I thought it looked real cool. Any others out there with a handle like that? If its tough that might be a good option for me as I am looking for a new rod this year and want a long one but not for travel. Not too up on the telescoping rods but a telescoping handle is another story. |

Location: Hayward, WI | I should have stopped and handled one. Saw some people looking at them and it looked like a very neat idea. My one worry was how much of the actual rod blank was inside the handle? It seemed like if the rear of the handle could extend that far up into the handle portion, I wonder if there is enough of the blank in the rod to make things rigid and strong. Not sure?
I figured they would be pretty expensive, but didn't get close enough to look at prices. Did anyone see how much they were listed at?

| Its a blank that Paul spec'd and had made overseas I believe.
I played with one a fair amount at the show this weekend. They feel decent and the concept is cool, but I'm not sold on 'em yet. I'll reserve judgment until I get to fish with one, I guess.
You could put your name on the list this weekend for a show special price of $200 (no money up front), but I think I heard the final price will be more like $250.

| I saw the video for it! I was bummed cause I just bought a custom 9' rod off of them about a month ago and they didn't mention this feature! I love it anyways! The first one came as a 2 pc. thanks to UPS! LOL

| This is not a Thorne Brothers rod. It was designed by Paul Thorne and will be marketed through Nature Vision, I believe |

Location: In a shack in the woods | I had a chance to talk to the guy selling them at the reeds booth. They were a very light rod. They will retail for $250 and be sold at reeds, thorne bros and a few others. They will be out in June. He told me if I ordered one I would have it by opener. |

Location: Iowa Great Lakes | I looked at them to, neat concept but like others will wait and see how they preform. I had already ordered a 9' Predator from Thorns so my rod budget was already spent. Girl at Thorns told me UPS and Fed Ex will no longer take 9' rods only Speedy will, hope mine arrives in 1 piece. |

I'll let people know how it works. The blank had the perfect action being not too heavy to play a fish, but enough back bone to cast 10's well. I really liked the handle extension feature. I always send my rods to Thornes to have extensions put on them, now I don't have to. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Reaction Strike has a line of rods they are making for Mattlures that have a extendable handles for bass swim baits, maybe they will install on the Dawg rods ??? in the furture ???? Rick Quade was at the 2009 Bass Masters product show with the rods.

| There is a big difference between the RS rod and Thorn rod. On Paul’s design you can adjust the butt at any length and lock it. The RS only works either in or fully extended. Seems a bit more thought went into Paul’s rod design. |

| My brother (a UPS guy) ordered a Paul Thorne rod, it's expected to arrive the first week of June. I'll pick it up for him and deliver it after I thoroughly check it out. It may take a couple weeks or more. I liked it but wished it compressed to a smaller size. I believe it's geared for double #10 blades. |
