I don't normally do very good until the water warms to 50F or more. I've never fished pure strain in the spring so I can't compare and contrast, but I wouldn't do a whole lot different I suppose. Pretend you're fishing pike and you'll probably do just fine.
J-13 Rapalas, Size 14 Husky Jerks, Mepps Muskie Killers, small Violent Strike spinnerbaits, and Baby Wabulls have all been pretty good. I used to fish spoons more than I do now, and they seemed to work pretty good...might have to revisit that myself.

Question for Utah tiger master:

If the red and white color combination works for pike, might it work for tiger muskies as well? Have you ever tried this? Had success?

Since Pointerpride is obviously busy, I'll field this one...

It's not one of my 'go to' color combos, but I have had it work. I like perch and browns best, but have caught fish on most colors at one time or another.
