A group of use go every year around july and we do good on yellow and also white and orange. You my want to lok in to some smaller lakes in the area just incase it is windy. The lake can get pretty ruff . I like yellow top waters and white and orange Rubber Dubbers also yellow and orange dubbers. Fish the rocks.

I think it's safe to say that by all the guys suggesting different colors from the next guy, a lake in particular doesn't have a favorable color, just general indicators. . . Water clarity, blue skies vs overcast, forage base, etc.

Leech for the most part is pretty clear water. The big lake is a bit darker but not much, it does get cloudy with strong winds which we have now and again. With that said, natural colored baits are a good starting point. Perch, sucker, cisco and walleye colors are all good choices. However, do not hesitate using some bright colors, especially on sunny days. Copper blades are a good choice one season we had 30 some fish on a Shumway Flasher with copper blades and brownish marabou body. A good practice if you have friends in the boat is to establish a pattern by each using a different color combo and letting the fish dictate their preference. The pattern can and will change however with weather and light changes so keep experimenting.

Good luck, Murph

Ive seen t.v. shows off Al Maas who guides up their, using a lot of topwater on bright sunny days and he probably is the best muskie guide on leech.
