| Personally I have about 10 different shades of purple that I use. I have been told that under water, the color purple shows up as black, which might be a reason that it is effective. Black is the most visible color. You can substitute purple for black in any pattern and get the same results.
The way that I like to use purple is either using it for shading and high-lighting, or using it with different colors of glitter over it to give it a different appearance. Three of my Kameleon colors are purple-based. That is why I have so many shades of it. If you want to change black, you get different shades of gray. With purple, you can lighten it and cut it with more and less of the primary colors that combine to make purple. Blue and Red. Add different amounts of those 2 colors, and you get a multitude of colors that are still purple.
Purple highlights are great in any pearl or silver-based pattern. Shad, Cisco, Sheepshead and any type of silver fish will always look good with purple highlights. As you have shown, it looks good with white, as well as silver and gold. I have found that adding purple to different patterns works better in clear water lakes than dark or stained water where it will just appear as black.
The whole purple family has a niche in the lure painting corner of the basement. Be it Purple, Burple, Violet, Ultra-Violet and more, I like the colors and use them a lot.
One of my favorite color patterns is Kingfishers "Gaytrout" or what ever he calls it. It is primarily purple and pink, but the pattern has more than just those two colors. Purple and Pink is a good color combo, and not just in muskieland. Tequilla Sunrise plastic worms and grubs are a mix of purple and pink with some glitter added at times. One of my fish-catchingest lures on The Mississippi River is a purple hair jig with a few strands of purple Flashabou. I'm talking walleyes, smallmouths, saugers and largemouths. Purple has always been a hot color on the river, and you're talking dark, silt-ladden water. Why it works so well there I have no idea.
I give purple a thumbs up.

| I had 42" or bigger fish in my boat last year on "purple" kickin minnows, lungen tails, depth raiders, and cowgirls. Purple works.
Fish were from multiple lakes, with multiple levels of clairity. From clear, to green, to Fox river brown. |

Location: Land of the Musky | I have a few purple in all of my lures but they don't seem to sell well for me. Here is a Purple Ghost Grunt color I have had for a few years. I think I have sold maybe 2 or 3 in 2 years. Even my smaller ones don't seem to sell well in the color purple. I have also heard to a musky or pike they look black under water and thus maybe a better profile.

| Thanks to everyone for their opinions. Very much appreciated. Now I decided to combine Purple w/Pink to see if that might turn on those big girl skis for someone. All comments welcome.
