I know there are some skies in there, but I don’t know what kind of population it has for sure. Never fished it. There are some good lakes around that area though.

I used to fish it for crappies with my dad 15 years ago, and it was excellent. I know it has muskies, I've always been under the impression of it being an action lake. It is very shallow, and they used to have a problem with winterkill, but I think they have an aerator now. I have musky fished on Solberg which is on the other side of Phillips and had good action. Another very shallow lake, dark water, lots of stumps and logs. Twitch a bright shallow raider through the weeds. I wouldn't call it a trophy lake, but it should keep you entertained. Price county does have several other options, and it is within striking distance of the Hayward area as well.

It does have decent muskies in there, and Connors Lake and Lake of the Pines are two other good nearby waters, Phillips Chain can be good, and like Tyler said Solberg is a good choice too, easier to fish than the others, but more traffic.

I have fished Soo a handful of times and there are muskies and if the wind is an issue it is a good lake to fish. Not much for structure and very dark water.
If the wind is not howlling I suggest the Mussser flowage the fishing is dynamic
in other words the other species will keep you busy until the ski cooperate.

If you want lake specifics PM me

John Carlson is a great guy to talk to, if you are looking for up to date conditions in the area. He owns/operates Ross's sport shop in Philips, the nicest little Musky shop, nobody knows about. Used to stop in there every Friday for a little b.s., 3 wild suckers, a Kit Kat, and a bottle of Sun Drop.
