Okay, I just bought a boat and right away upgraded the trolling motor to a terrova. After spending the money on the trolling motor, I didn't want to chunk a bunch more money down on a fishfinder just yet, and, since everything on Minnkota's website said it would be compatable with the fishfinder 160, I decided to get the universal sonar option on the trolling motor and use the adapter cable for Garmin fishfinder.

Now that I have it ready to rig up, I found the adaptor cable that I bought doesn't seem to fit the fishfinder. The head is a lot smaller than the socket on the back of the fish finder. But it clearly says on the website, and on the package of the adapter cable I bought, that it is compatable with the Fishfinder 160. Anyone else dealt with anything like this?

I don't really have the money to go buy another fish finder right now.

I had the exact same problem with my new Terrova and my Lowrance 520. The cable simply didnt fit onto the 520. I took my US adapter cable back to where I got it and grabbed another adapter off the shelf and actually tried it there in the store on a display unit. I was happy to find out that the origonal cable I had simply didnt work, and the new one did. Looks like the quality control on these adapter cables isnt the best. Take it back and exchange it for a new one! You might also want to take your unit in with u to try it out on.
