Jig spinning rod question

I usually throw my musky jigs with a bass flipping stick, a St Croix TBC711HMF. my jigs are either 1/2 oz owners with swimbait or a J-Max with shaker. I've been thinking of trying a St Croix Avid Inshore spinning rod, either the medium heavy (AIS76MHF) or the heavy (AIS76HF).

Does anyone have any experience with these Inshore rods? Which rod would be better?

Thanks - John

The key to a spinning outfit is a strong backbone, and fast action for ripping weeds. I use a prototype Okuma 7.5' medium heavy. If the rod feels good in your hands rigged with the reel, and balances well, is a MH or H designed to throw from 3 to 4 ounces, it'll work. I personally prefer the MH blanks, because I can set the hook much harder and pop weeds easier.

Thanks! When will the Okuma 7.5' medium heavy be available?

Sounds like they won't be building that rod any time soon, not enough of a market for it. Maybe Mark can let us know what they have that's comparable.

I'd say the AIS76HF (available now) If it can handle 30-50 lb stripers and reds it may be what your looking for. It also comes in an 8 foot model.

I've heard from many people (that I sent the samples to), that it was one of the best rods that they have used for jigs. If 150 of you want to pony up for one, I will build them

That might just be possible, Mark...:) As usual, you guys nailed it on the blank, handle, and balance. it's the finest jigging stick I've used for Creatures, and that's saying something.

Mark, you can at least count me in for two or three of these, if your only going to make a short supply, gotta have some backups for sure!

So we'll say 145 to go, lol

I use a 7'6" rod out of the St Croix In-Shore line. It's a salt-water rod designed for the likes of Redfish up to Permit. Lots of backbone. Loaded up with 14-17# mono, it's a great "Creature" rig.

I'll take 4, count me in for sure.

If these aren't about to be made, can someone name a good custom rod builder that can make a very simular rig??
