| I was out on French yesterday, about 11 o'clock, we're fishing the northside docks, and a guy fishing off of a dock hooks a musky. Its netted, measured, and put on a table to be fileted! What a bunch of !@#$ I heard his neighbor ask how long it was, and he said 42.5" How often do you guys see this? I've heard quite a few people out to the Owatonna Cabelas saying that many people are killing muskys out there, even sub-legals. I know they paid however much for a license too, but how can we stop this? Enough complaining...oh and I didn't catch a thing...

| We see this out on Pewaukee far to often![:(] [:(] | |

| Not much you can do about it unfortunately and you can bet that guy does not want them fish in "his" lake. If it's a sublegal by all means take his picture and report him. | |

| [:(] I just don't get it!
What are these people thinking? | |

| Certainly not trying to condone keeping muskies, but perhaps we take our beliefs so seriously that we sometimes forget to view things from another' point. For example this original post stated that the musky was caught from a dock. How many ardent musky anglers routinely fish from a dock? Remember back to a time before any of us became musky anglers - - how many of us would have released a 40+ inch fish of any species except maybe a carp? I somehow doubt this particular angler was targeting muskies. I also doubt they have any idea of how long it takes for a musky to attain such a length, the odds against it happening in the first place and the true value of putting them back. I'll also bet my favorite musky lure that they don't know what lousy tablefare they make either or they wouldn't be spending the time to fillet one. If they really just wanted it out of "their" lake, they'd just kill it and leave it for the birds to peck on. So I think perhaps we failed at an opportunity to enlighten a novice (musky angler speaking) and all the belligerent name calling won't help the situation in the slightest. If we want others to see and value our perspective, it's up to us to educate them.
Just my 02 cents worth on the subject.
