Looking for some feedback on a good Sonar/GPS combo with map chip. There are so many units out there but i've read poor reports on certain units. My unit is 10 years old with no GPS or map options. I cant break the banks and would like to stay around $600.00 if possible? I've notice some pretty good deals out there on the lowarnce LMS-522 C i gps but have no idea what the quality is of these units. If anyone has some good knowledge in this area your advise would be greatly appreciated.

Haven't heard any complaints about the Humminbird 788c. It has a brighter screen and higher res then last years 787c2 too.

picked up a lowrance lcx27c for around the price range your looking for. They are closing out these units, if you can find any place that still has them in stock I would recommend this unit.

Pick up a 520 or 522 asap. Lowrance isn't making that unit any longer. If you wait you may be out of luck on a new unit.
We cleared out the LCX-27 combo for about 750.00. If you can find one at 600.00, new, I'd jump on that.

Thanks guys, I was looking at the 2008 units but they got sucked up quick with the deals they were running. Thorn Brothers had the 522c units at 399 so I called immediatly and they were sold out! I'll see if I can find any deals on the Lcx 27 which I believe has th 7" screen which would be nice. Does the 27 have an internal or external antenna? Which is better if any?

Thanks,

I have an Eagle Fish Elite 500C and have no complaints with it.

It has an external GPS puck. There were some threads on this site about internal and external GPS units, some were having problems when mounted up front and with screen tilted they were loosing signal which doesn't make any sense.
