I started using this line last year on one of my rods and I really liked it. I am going to add this to 3 other reels this spring. I am thinking about getting the 300yd spool or maybe the 1200yd spool. It will take be a few years to use up the 1200yd spool. Has anyone ever had a spool for a few years, did it go bad? I have had some mono that gets weak after 3 or 4 years, even stored in the house.

Thanks

Braid will last for years, keep out of sunlight and big temps changes. I have some Whiplash that is over 8 years old, and it is fine. Ultra Cast is great, Also ck out Tracer Braid.

I also used the UltraCast at the end of last season and really liked it. Ultracast is much smoother and quieter than power pro which I always used previously.
PIKEMASTER - I am going to try that Tracer Braid this year for sure - I think I'm going to like it.

i used the green and yellow ultracast all of last year and it was "ok" except for the fact that when i intially spooled it under very very tight pressure the braid actually separated in my fingers and got "balled-up", if you will, between my fingers telling me it is a very very loose braid. when i released it from the tension the braid came back "together". this year i spooled up with the berkley fireline braid and wow what a difference! no separation of the braid during spool-up, very quiet through the guides and it is very dry. the 80lb fireline has the diameter of 15lb, which when compared to the 80lb ultracast, is noticeably much thinner...

I have been using Spiderwire products for years and have never had a problem that was not my doing. I buy all my line in the bulk spools and don't have any problems with it deteriating over time. Been using Ultracast for two years now and love it.
