| Was wondering if any of you design your own tail would like some advice. I made a pike/muskie swim bait and the tail doesn't kick, it just folds at the top. I think the paddle may be to thin and the tail leading to it too thick. I used form. 500 from lurecr. with hardner and the first one just used soft plastic from old melted baits. Any help I appreciate. will try to post a pic, it was saying the file was too big I guess? THanks, Rusty | |

Location: Hugo, MN | Take a look at the differences between your creation and something like a Suzy Sucker. See if yours is at too much of an angle to the body, or if it's too small. A paddle tail can be touchy. For example, the small Suzy Suckers paddle at almost any speed, but put on one of the big ones and it takes a bit more speed to get it thumping. I'd guess that the tail is either too heavy for the body, or too light. You could try altering the mass of the tail until you get it to shake, then change the master. I've been playing with soft plastics over the last couple winters, but need more time to get a prototype that is worth casting. If you haven't already tried it, OOMOO 30 Silicone is really good stuff for making molds. | |

| The bigger suzy suckers (11") have too thick of a tail above the paddle. I cut a nice long chunk out of the rubber along the tail on those and they swim great now. | |
