How do you know if you are getting one of the 2009 models with the fixed problem?

All reels produced for the last 3 months have had the new hold plates installed in them. We also installed the new hold plates on all of the inventory that Okuma had in the U.S. I can't tell you that all reels in the market right now might not have the upgrades but since we stoppedd shipping them many months ago... i would imagine that 99% of the reels out there have the new parts. Also realize that not all reels had problems. If you do have a reel that has the disengaging problem... we have the parts in the states that we could either send out free of charge or you could send the reel to Okuma and we will turn it around generally within 24-48 hours.

This is why my next reel will definately be an okuma. Probably my next rod too... excellent customer service.
