Wondering what you guys think is the best way to make a the initial rough cast to be molded of my design for soft bait. Going to be the size of mag. dawg. maybe a pinch smaller. I figured when I get it tweaked, my best bet would be cnc router. Thinking clay or wood. If any of you have questions on why women act crazy, let me know I can answer that one. Thanks guys, Rusty

Rusty try plaster of paris . Be careful though it sets up very fast sometimes . But if the bait has any negitives in the shape you will have to do a two piece mold.

Rusty, I'm currently in the process of trying to make my first soft-plastic... I'm only trying to make a better twister tail for my bucktails, though. If it works, I'll post the results (and process).
My first step was to make a wood and clay 'prototype' of what I wanted to build. Part of it, of course, is what media you're comfortable working with, and what tools you have or have access to. I've got a few basic woodworking tools and didn't have much clay on hand when I got the bug to try this goofy project, so that's what I went with. Plus for what I wanted to build, I thought clay would end up being too fragile to hold up to the casting process.
Good luck! can't wait to see the results.
