| I am looking at a 2006 Lund Explorer with a Merc 90HP EFI 4St. The boat would fit my needs very well and has less than 30 hours on it..Looks like new..I know the Merc has a Yamaha powerhead but I was wondering if anyone knew if the EFI is the same system that Yamaha uses or if anyone has any experience with this motor?? I really want a Honda or Yamaha but this may be just as good??? Thanks,

| May not be a Yamaha powerhead. Went all Merc sometime in 05 or 06, I think. And if it is a Yamah powerhead, it may not be the same EFI as the Merc. version. Merc's 4 strokes went EFI before Yamaha did. Yamaha's were carbed motors while Merc was EFI on the same powerhead.
I'd check with a dealer. Take him the serial number and he will tell you what you are looking at. | |
