| How many guides are there in Northeast Indiana?
I was looking to book one and I was amazed at the number of choices.
Where do you start?

| More guides than we need, too much presure now. Why does anyone need a guide to fish a four or five hundred acre lake; guides in Indiana, what a joke.

| I'd take a strong look at Spencer Berman, he puts a ton of big fish in the boat from Indiana every year. Oh, and is one of like seven or eight guys with a 50+ inch fish out of Indiana, not to mention numerous other higher 40+ inch fish! |

| call hulberto, you wont regret it. |

| Try Vince Weirick. He's not over rated, and also doesn't take himself too seriously like some guides do.

The lakes are all small. I personally, wouldn't hire a guide to fish IN waters. Having said that, Mike Hulbert's success is unmatched! He catches numbers, which many do, but his average size is extroardinary! |

| few quick notes/comments (we'll see if can keep it short)
1. MANY guide clients do not have boats, so hiring a guide is the #1 best option to catch a musky or two in Indiana.
2. Even though Indiana stocks it's lake with too many muskies there are still MANY MANY musky fishing people who get skunked all the time. Indiana lakes are not miracle lakes that promise to give you a musky every time you go out.
3. (this is going to slighty contradict #2) If indiana didnt' stock thier lakes so heavily, half of the guides in Indiana would only last 1 year of guiding. you cannot be a guide if you catch between 0 and 5 fish a year. if most guides in indiana were forced to fish in WI, MN, OH, PN all year long they would soon realize that their skills aren't as good as they think they are. Catching 0-10 fish a year in gives them a false feeling that they know what they are doing.
5. Yes...hiring guides in all states (and indiana) is worth it. there is no doubt that several of the guides are on fish and will DRAMATICALLY increase your chances of hooking up with some Hoosier Muskies. It's worth your $$ to hire a guide in Indiana.
6. Claud, if you have a specific indiana lake you want to fish or to learn a specific technique that would be a good place to start. contact the guides and ask them a few questions to narrow it down. |

| Hulbert gets all the national press...and thus lots of thumbs ups from guys on this site. He's definately an awesome guide, but there are two others that would be good choices as well.
Chris Walker's fishing knowledge is unmatched. The guy is seriously a fishing stud. And the numbers of fish he puts in the boat every year would surprise all of you. He knows big water as well...the dude honed his skills on the great lakes. And I hear he's a pretty good bass fisherman too.
Mike Ice is also a pretty cool guy...no pun intended. If you're wanting to do any type of sucker fishing, hire him. He's got it down to a science. Not that he doesn't know how to fish otherwise...he's awesome for sure. And he also happens to be one of the nicest guys you'll meet. You can't go wrong.
Chae, the King brothers, and Broc....those guys are cool cats too. |

| I'd hire the one of the King brothers in May if I were you. Check out some of their topwater videos. Fun guys to BS with too. Not only do they spend a lot of time on the water and have for years, but they have a pretty good network of guides too so the chances of getting on a pattern greatly increase.
Then there is Chae, who use to guide a couple guys who now guide themselves. Might not be able to top the knowledge he has on those lakes.
Goodluck!

| Webster Lake Guide Service are the only full time Indiana Guides. If you look at their website they average a 43.5" fish for everyday of the month in May. Chae and the King Bros have all caught and released 50"+ muskies in Indiana.
The King Bros have been in the top 5 the last 5 years running in the Indiana Musky Classic. And took 1st and 2nd place the last 2 years catching 11 fish.
The King Bros fish around the clock, catching fish all hours of the day and night. I don't think anybody put more muskies in the boat than the King Bros last year.
You couldn't go wrong fishing with any of the Guides in Webster Lake Guide Service. They all work together to make sure they put their clients on fish. |

| I will third or forth the Webster Lake Guide Service!!! I've been out with a lot of the Indiana guys and I will go with these guys over and over. Chae is great to fish with, tons of fun. Some guys can't carry on a conversation outside the relam of fishing. Not the case with these guys!!!

| fishing Indiana is not rocket science. if you have a boat, clip on a bait and get in line. there are plenty of boats on the water to show you where the fish usually are.
as for "full time" IN guide services, I for one frown on guys fishing IN waters with 80+ degree water temps. |

| slim... I don't think any of them guide when the water is 80+ degrees.
It may be their full time job, but they take vacations just like everyone else, only a little longer |
|
| |
|
| Jason King, Jeff King, and Bill Bennett each donated a trip to the Op Muskie auction.
that doesn't speak to their guiding skill, but it does speak to their character.

Like it was said before, maybe some people don't have the boat... Or maybe they are only going to be on the lake for a few days at a time. Even on a 500 acre lake, you can't fully learn it in a few days time. It's nice to fish with someone who knows every crook and nanny in the lake to put you on a few fish while on your short vacation. |

| You've got to go check out the pics from the King brothers on the Webster Lake Guide Service page!!! I don't know of many people who put as much size in the boat as those two...

Location: lansing, il | there are lots of good guys out there on the water, lots of choices, and it depends on what you are looking for and want to do as well. my opinion is probably a biased one though. i do find myself questioning how many is too many at times, especially when you can start counting guides per acre or how many acres per guide. however be sure to check out the musky hunter tv show this coming weekend and you can probably have alot of your questions answered for you. |
