The cortland CTR 7' bucktail rod is my favorite light musky rod. How do the new Endurance compare other than being 40 bucks more? Are they lighter? Is the action the same?

Also if anyone is fan of the cortland rods can you suggests any other rod that you like that a smilair to these ligther action cortlands? Looking at the st croix 7'3" st croix legend downsizer. Thanks!

I've got a CTR and a couple 7'6" Endurance for "Just in case" back up rods or if I take someone new to musky fishing with me to use. These rods are a good choice for the beginner or anyone looking for a decent rod for under $100.
I dont consider them to be light compared to my Diamondbacks and Loomis Steele's and most likely not the Legends.
The CTR (not made anymore) and the Endurance are a pretty darn good rod for the money, but the quality is nowhere close to the others mentioned above IMO.

Does anyone know the comparison in wieght blanks between the new endurance vs other rods? The enurance felt very light. The premiers feel extremly heavy to me.
Thanks

The new Premiers feel heavy? 8 foot heavy has a blank weight of 6.2 ounces. It is 6 inches shorter then its cousin.

There can be a trade off for being light weight.....strength. I do not think that is the case with St Croix right now and their new design. Sling Blade or the (4M86HF)report 6.3 ounces in an 8-6 rod blank that is rated heavy.

One thing I forgot to mention. The St Croix still allows for a size 18 reel seat even when extended.
