I'm newly registered to your site but i've been reading it for a long time and love all the info, great site. Here is my situation and question. I just got a 14' v-bottom and I need ideas. I am thinking possibily a casting deck in the front. I have seen past post with some great ideas on how some of you have done some neat things with them. I need to keep it inexpensive because I'm giving it to a kid that works for me. He is just getting into fishing and I would like to work on this project with him since I seem to be the only postive male figure in his life. He is 22 year old that is in need of some guidance and I think that working on this project together will help him focus in a more postive way. With that, I am looking for any ideas that you may have to help us get started, also looking for a 9.9 or 15 hp motor.

Thank you!

I customized my last boat using painted plywood, home depot outdoor carpet and some 2 by sixes and l brackets. I later did a rear casting area using aluminum chanel and that was just as easy and lighter. I built a lift up section for storage. It was easy, looked great and fished really well. PM me your email and I will send you pics if u want.

Hey rsn, go down 2 post to the one about mounting jon boat seats! On one of the last replies theres a web address about modifying jon boats! its something you wanna see if your redoing a boat! Theres alot of good info on the site! I think if you type in bass-jons and then go to boat mods. you'll find it! hope this helps.

Go with aluminum over wood... it doesnt need treating, never needs to be replaced, and its way lighter which can make a big difference in a small boat. Im about finished decking our boat... Ill post pictures sometime next week hopefully.

CANT WAIT to get it on the water!
